The most iconic mountain of the Ortles Cevedale Group, an imposing pyramid that stands out among numerous glaciers and dominates the entire valley. Precisely where the two severe north and south sides meet, the two main climbing lines take shape, both technical and exposed. The best time for climbing is certainly the beginning of the season, when the ridges, gullies and slopes are still well covered in snow.
NORMAL ROUTE – Superb climb up steep and exposed icy slopes requiring good footing and technique with ice ax and crampons. VIA SULDENGRAT – One of the most beautiful ridge routes in the Rhaetian Alps, between sharp and aerial blades on snowy terrain and rock climbing sections, undoubtedly the most elegant line to reach the summit of Gran Zebrù (D-|650m|NW| 60°|III+).
Program: VIA NORMALE, G1 – Rifugio Forni car park 2178m, Rifugio Pizzini 2700m. G2 – Gran Zebrù 3851m, return to the valley along the same line. VIA SULDENGRAT, G1 – Rifugio Forni car park 2178m, Rifugio Pizzini 2700m. G2 – Solda Pass 3427m, Gran Zebrù 3851m, return to the valley via the Normal Route.
